No Nigerian should perish in the course of the upcoming general elections, according to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
In his speech on Sunday, Fintiri urged Nigerians to always pray for and support their country as he laid wreaths at Yola’s Mahmud Ribadu Square in memory of the country’s fallen heroes.
“We should continue to pray for our country, help her to live in peace, and support the widows of the fallen heroes who died and gave their lives in order to keep the country united,” Fintiri said.
And only when we are at peace will this election benefit the nation as a whole. No Nigerian citizen’s life should be forfeited over a political contest. When we are both present and alive, only we can exercise authority and enjoy leadership.
In particular, he urged INEC officials to be aware of their responsibilities and perform their duties in a way that will ensure the country’s peace and progress. He made this appeal to everyone who will be involved in the conduct of the elections.
