A press statement issued on Thursday 28th July 2022 by the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin from the office of the President, Nana Akufo-Addo reveals that the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo has been sacked from her role in accordance with article 81(a).
Adwoa Sarfo who also doubles as the NPP member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Municipality is said to have abandoned her duties since last year as well as her duty as a cabinet minister by absenting herself for more than 15 sitting days without approval from the Speaker of Parliament.
Earlier today, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, adjourned his decision on Miss Safo, who has been allegedly absent. Miss Safo failed to appear before the Committee to justify her absence for over fifteen sitting days after many attempts by the committee to reach her.
The statement added that Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah, Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources will continue to act as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection until such a time that President Akufo-Addo appoints a substantive Minister.
