Fire has destroyed forest reserves around the University of Energy and Natural Resources(UENR). This incident occurred at Fiapre, a place closer to Sunyani. The fire has eradicated property and shops surrounding the area.
Ghana National Fire Service intervenes and prevents the situation from getting out of hand. This curbs the fire from spreading to a gas-filling station.
However, the fire gutted managed to destroy ashes, carpentry, meat, and a sawmill shop. No casualties were recorded.
The cause of the fire outbreak remains unknown. Some residents believe the activities of drug peddlers and smokers in the place might have been the cause.
The Bono Regional operations officer of the National Disaster Management Organization, Mr Alfred Atta Yeboah noted the impact of the outbreak is yet to be assessed and that victims would be helped.
