Election 2024: Special Voting Set For December 2

The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa has announced that special voting for the December polls would be held on Monday, December 2.

The announcement was made on May 28, at a meeting with executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and representatives of security agencies.

The Special Voting provision is intended for voters who will be involved in election duties on the main day of the polls.

Members of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, National Security, Immigration Service, National Fire Service, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), and Information Services Department are among them.

It also includes employees of the Ghana Police Service, the National Media Commission, the Prisons Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Journalists Association.

These people can use their right to vote without interfering with their professional obligations during the elections thanks to the early voting mechanism.

“Anyone wishing to apply for special voting should submit an application directly to the returning officer of the constituency in which they are registered to vote. In order to speed up the application procedure, members of institutions wishing to apply collectively will provide a list of their members to the returning officers, according to Jean Mensa.
