Ex-Soldier shoots two children and father – Breman in the Ashanti Region
The left ear of Collins Kusi, the father of the two children shot, is completely covered in bondage. Wounds on his chest, he claimed to have sustained from gunshots.
He narrates the story as follows ‘I heard a knock on my door, I came out to find the old man tying a red cloth around my windows, I asked him why and in a loud voice he asked whether he hadn’t issued a death warrant at me before. He had a hammer in his hands which I didn’t see, he then hit me with the hammer. I quickly struggle with him for the hammer.
After taking the hammer from him, he went into his room and brought out a gun. He shot in my direction twice but missed. I struggled with him for the gun, later I heard people calling to my attention to the children who were down bleeding at the point’.
Reason for such act
According to Mr Kusi, the threats were issued in 2019 after the demise of his landlord.
He said the suspect had demanded rent allowance from him despite being directed to pay another relative.
The man who used to be the landlord told him to deal with one niece called Angela. So after paying the rent to Angela in 2019, this man has been disturbing him ever since.
Current status
The two children shot are responding to treatment at the Akomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The suspect also sustained the injury after struggling with the man.
Superintendent Emmanuel Asiamah, the district police commander at Suame indicated that “the suspect was also arrested immediately after the event. He also notify the police that he was suffering from his ribs and limbs because the victim used some implements to hit him. So as we speak because of the injury that he also sustained, he has been hospitalized under police guard to receive medical treatments. We are praying that after the medical treatment, the suspect will be brought before the court”
