I overlooked developments in Ekumfi because you voted against Ato Cudjoe – Akufo-Addo
Vesta Daily – Accra: Because Ekumfi voted Francis Ato Cudjoe out of parliament in the 2020 elections, President Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that he was blind to developments in the area.
During a meeting with Ekumfi traditional elders at the Jubilee House, the president voiced his displeasure with the Ekumfi constituency’s voting pattern, which he said was the reason Ato Cudjoe was removed from Ghana’s House of Legislation.
He lamented that the electorate had still voted him out even after appointing “him [Ato Cudjoe] a deputy minister.”
“I have to be honest with you, I did not pay attention to development in your area, but since you brought it up, I will pay attention to it. Ato Cudjoe was your MP, and I made him a Deputy Minister. You voted him out in the last elections.”
The traditional chiefs gathered at Jubilee House to urge the president to send projects that will raise their people’s level of existence.
Though Abeiku Crentsil lost the 2016 parliamentary election, he returned in 2020 and defeated Francis Ato Cudjoe.
President Akufo-Addo promised them that, despite his disappointment, he would try his best to see the region develop after listening to their request.
