Mrs Millicent Osei Mensah, a Ghanaian living in K, has stated that she decided against studying nursing like many other Ghanaians do when they travel abroad because many people only do it for the money.
Mrs Mensah stated that it is improper for newcomers abroad to follow advice blindly rather than pursuing a career they are passionate about in an interview on SVTV Africa. She thinks that Black people in the UK have a lot of opportunities and are free to pursue any endeavour.
“I was thinking about it, but I got pregnant right before I started school. I frequently give thanks to God for my delivery at the time because otherwise, I would have regretted it. I wasn’t particularly passionate about nursing. Even taking shots makes me nervous, she admitted.
She claims that many Ghanaians are misled by relatives who live abroad and follow their advice without learning about other options.
Africans don’t read, so we simply accept what is said to us. They informed me that nursing is the best option for Black people to earn a living and that you would accept this advice given their extended stay in this country.
“You might believe they are right, but they are wrong. Black people have many opportunities. She said on SVTV Africa, “You need to go to the right places for the opportunities.
Mrs Mensah mentioned that she made the decision to start a business while raising her five kids. She also provided some insights into British culture.
