I’ll build a prosperous Ghana before I leave office – Akufo-Addo

Vesta Daily -Accra: Before leaving office in 2025, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is sure he will leave Ghana in better shape.

Before his term finishes, President Akufo-Addo promises to create a successful nation and raise everyone’s standard of living.

The President of Ghana said Tuesday that this year will bring progress and prosperity to the country during the yearly Jubilee House Thanksgiving ceremony in Accra.

“As my term of office draws to a close, or even if it is just a year away, I remain optimistic and resolute. With the help of the Ghanaian people and the Almighty God, I am sure that we will succeed in building a progressive and prosperous Ghana for everybody.”

He said, “It is a mission that requires heavenly inspiration and grace in addition to political understanding.”

In the meanwhile, to guarantee that the next elections in 2024 are free and transparent, President Akufo-Addo has asked Ghanaians and all pertinent parties to collaborate.

As we get closer to the general elections in December, the president stated that free and fair elections are the cornerstone of functioning democracies worldwide.

In a speech to the public on Friday, the 30th anniversary of the 4th Republic, Akufo-Addo urged everyone to obey the laws and policies guiding the country’s election administration and called for deeper and more widespread cooperation.

“Viable elections are the foundation of democracies, and this year, as on eight (8) previous occasions, we shall cast our votes to choose the President and my successor. Elections are vital, and the ballot is sacred, and no real democrat can deny this.

“Therefore, it must be in our common interest to make sure that the laws and guidelines governing the conduct of this year’s elections are just and transparent, and that we all grow to respect them—respect that shouldn’t depend on your outcome.”

He continued by saying that cooperation among all parties involved in ensuring the consolidation of Ghanaian democracy, peace, and stability is the best method to enhance these elements of the nation.

There should be no room for doubt regarding the legitimacy of the election at the end of the day, and the victorious candidates should have everyone’s unwavering support.

“All stakeholders,” that is, the Electoral Commission, the political parties and their leaders, the electorate, and the citizenry, should work to assure the consolidation of Ghanaian democracy and help us maintain our pride of place on the continent as a model of democracy in Africa. That is how we can improve our country’s peace and stability as well as our democracy.
