Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of the House, has claimed that he has not issued any instructions prohibiting journalists from using cellphones in the press gallery.
Speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corps in response to a rumour that he had prohibited reporters from using their phones in the chamber, he declared: “I have not and I won’t do such a thing when I’m rather working to allow proceedings to be streamed live so Ghanaians can be a part of Parliamentary proceedings.”
To ensure the security of members using the Speaker’s name and the same published, it has been ordered through the press leadership that journalists covering Parliamentary proceedings could not use their phones with the installation of a scanning machine.
But according to Mr Bagbin, he never did that.
