Oliver Barker-Vormawor is a convener of the #FixTheCountry movement. In February, he was charged with a treason felony which fuelled a wider civil society campaign against the government’s plan for an electronic transaction tax.
Oliver has stated emphatically that, people like Kojo Oppong-Nkruma is the reason why people have difficulty in trusting others like him who speak up.
“Let’s be brutally frank with each other!
People like Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah and Elizabeth Ohene are the reasons why people have difficulty trusting people like me who speak up.”
He added that they haven’t been the best ambassadors of reforming the status quo. They have become the embodiment of people’s fear that there are no genuine campaigners for reform; only opportunists.
And for which reason, they are more reticient in standing together with them to fight a system with their anger. It really frustrates him that they cannot point to certain individuals and show people that One person can make a difference.
Oliver gave his understanding as to why Jesus Christ’s anger was often targeted at hypocrites.
“Everyday, I understand better why Christ’s genuine anger was often targeted the most at Hypocrites, pharisees and sadduccees.
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”
