Kwabena Duffour Cannot Compare Himself With Mahama - Hon. Sam George

According to Ghanaian politician Samuel Nartey George, Dr Kwabena Duffuor is desperately trying to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the upcoming elections.

Sam Nartey Goerge believes it is childish for an 80-year-old man to be involved in this type of politics.

His remarks follow the former finance minister’s claim that he had a superior track record than former president John Dramani Mahama, who is running for the NDC’s flagbearer position.

“I am talking about the figures and not about the personality, who was in charge? If you are happy with the figures then you ask who was in charge and that he did a great job. If the figures are so bad, who was in charge?” Dr. Duffour stated an in earlier interview with TV3’s Paa Kwasi Asare.

When asked whether he thought John Mahama did a good job as president, he answered, “Look at the figures.”

However, in response to Kwabena Duffour’s remarks, Sam George stated in an interview on TV3 on Monday, May 9th, “It is childish for an 80-year-old man to be engaged in such desperate politicking because he wants to be elected flagbearer.”

“When Dr Duffuor makes such comments you should ask him in the 0.0001 percent probability chance that he becomes the flagbearer of the NDC, whose records is he going to campaign on? Is it, not John Mahama’s records? Mr Duffuor has no record. He was the Minister of the government when John Mahama was the Vice President. He cannot compare himself with Former President Mahama,” he condemned.

“President Mahama has a track record as president, he has a track record as an appointee of Mr Mahama’s government because Mr Mahama and President Mills formed the government and appointed him,” he pointed out.

Sam George further disclosed that Prof. Mills and Mr Mahama were responsible for whatever Kwabena Duffour purported to have accomplished or claimed to have accomplished.

By citing some of Former President Mahama’s accomplishments, Honorable Sam George debunked Kwabena Duffour’s assertions.

“When it comes to records, Mr Mahama took over the reins of government at a time when we had only one oil field and bequeathed three oil fields to this government.”

“In the area of education, Mr Mahama started construction of one hundred and twenty-three blocks, of Community Day Senior High Schools, forty-five of them were completed before he left office, and the rest were at various stages of completion.”

“Under President Mahama, you saw universities built. If you are talking about President Mahama as vice president and as president, you have the University of Health and Allied Sciences in the Volta Region, the University of Energy and Natural Resources in the then Brong Ahafo Region then you have the university in Somanya that President Mahama found the money for.”
