Argentine football legend Diego Maradona has passed away at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack.
He was hospitalised earlier this month, days after celebrating his birthday, where he complained of low spirits and fatigue.sk
Tests from the clinic he was sent to revealed a blood clot on his brain, which doctors later revealed was operated on successfully.
But on Wednesday morning he suffered cardiac arrest, and paramedics at the scene failed to revive him.
Diego Armando Maradona was born on 30 October 1960 . He was an Argentina professional footballer and football manager. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, and by many as the greatest ever. He was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award.
His presence and leadership on the field had a great effect on his team’s general performance, while he would often be singled out by the opposition. In addition to his creative abilities, he also possessed an eye for goal and was known to be a free-kick specialist.
A precocious talent, Maradona was given the nickname “El Pibe de Oro” (“The Golden Boy”), a name that stuck with him throughout his career.
