On his Twitter handle, tagging the President, he wrote, “Dear President Nana Akufo-Addo. My students and I condole with Ghana. We have, therefore, used your statement on the death of Jerry John Rawlings, for today’s marking project. Here is how it looks after the surgery.
This was how it looked after the editing and marking.
DEATH OF FORMER PRESIDENT JERRY JOHN RAWLINGS
The First President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings has died.
His died at 10:10am on Thursday, 12th November 2020, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.
The Government and people of Ghana condole with the former First Lady, Nana Kunadu Agyeman-Rawlings, children, and family at this difficult time.
To honour the former president, all national flags will fly half-mast for the next seven days; and I have declared seven days of national mourning, starting from Friday, 13th November. The Vice President and I have suspended our political campaigns for same period.
The government will work closely with the family of President Rawlings on the arrangements for a fitting state funeral, and I will keep the nation informed accordingly.
A great tree has fallen, so it is a heavy loss, for Ghana.
May his soul rest in perfect peace at the bosom of the Almighty until the Day of Resurrection, when we shall meet again. Amen.
After he had marked and corrected the statement of the President, he added that, “death is sensitive, so we should choose our words carefully.
He also scored the President 5/10. Which obviously calls for a rework.
Ghanaians have since reacted to this with mixed feelings, with some defending the president that the letter was issued within the traditional cultural setting of Ghana.
