ohnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), officially launched his campaign for National Chairman on Tuesday.
The ceremony drew many party officials, including Prof Joshua Alabi and former Ministers, to the Kama Conference Centre in Labone, Accra.
Parliamentarians in attendance included Ellembelle MP, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Techiman North MP, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, Buem MP, and Kofi Adams, among others, led by Banda MP and Deputy Chief Whip, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim.
Betty Mould Idrissu, a former Attorney General who was also present, said Mr Nketia was qualified to lead the NDC in 2024.
She emphasized that General Mosquito, as he is popularly known, has demonstrated commitment and dedication to the party’s growth over the years.
For the past 17 years, Mr Nketia has served as the NDC’s Chief Scribe.
He has announced plans to hang his boot and run for a much higher position to ensure the NDC’s victory in the general election in 2024.
So far, he is the only candidate to challenge incumbent Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, who is also running for re-election.
The party has set December 17, 2022, as the date for the election of its national officers.
