NPP Primaries: KT Hammond's attempts to go  unopposed ignored

Vesta Daily – Accra: Trade and Industry Minister KT Hammond’s plea to dismiss his rivals in the party’s Adansi Asokwa parliamentary primary was denied by the NPC’s National Executive Committee.

In a petition to the National Executive Committee, KT Hammond claimed that his rivals, Kwabena Nkansah Asamoah, Samuel Dakwa Binfoh, and Dr. Enoch Acheampong, are not party card-bearers and have not accomplished enough in the constituency to be worthy of representing the people.

He said that the NPP’s constitution’s Articles 12(4) and (7) disqualify them from running in the election.

But on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the National Executive Committee denied the petition, allowing the three opponents to run in the January 27 primary.

Meanwhile, 33 NPP Members of Parliament are going unopposed in the primaries.
