The MP of Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, reacting to the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal said the agreement was fraudulent adding “the Akyem Sakawa boys and grandpas must go”.
This was subsequently shared on John Mahama’s Facebook page where he described it as an interesting piece.

The comment has been condemned by some political watchers as distasteful, especially coming from an ex-president.
Unhappy Akufo-Addo could not hide his feelings when the opportunity presented itself on Friday.
He said, “The comment made by my opponent “Akyem Sakawa boys”… is completely unacceptable.”
John Mahama has however stated in a seaming rebuttal that President Akufo-Addo has no right to complain about the “Akyem Sakawa Boys” tag used to describe some of his appointees responsible in relation to the Agyapa Royalties deal.
He said, “I will be the last person to attack any ethnic group in this country. I shared a post of Hon Adongo who described certain people in Akufo-Addo’s government as “Akyem Sakawa Boys””. My national chairman is an Akyem. The head of our manifesto committee is an Akyem, so how can I make such a general comment. I think Akufo-Addo is just displaying his frustration.
President Akufo-Addo lost his right to complain a long time ago. He was an opposition leader who called the Presidents before him anything you can imagine, including Professor Do Little…He is a president who calls his critics naysayers and Jeremiahs. On what standard is he angry?”
