An award-winning gospel artiste Nana Yaw Boakye Yiadom popularly known as MOG took to his Twitter handle to chastise gospel artists and worship leaders to always pray for songs that will transcend generations instead of praying for hit songs.
The reason is that even when they are dead and gone in their old age whoever listens to their songs must seek the face of God and must feel the presence of God.
“Worship leader, Instead of praying for a HIT SONG, pray for a song that will transcend generations. Such that when you are dead and gone in your old age. Anyone who listens to your songs must go seeking for your God.” – MOG
Previously, most gospel artists’ main aim was to win souls for Christ and draw people closer to God.
But recently that’s not the case, most of them concentrate on their personal gain and being in the limelight. Instead of winning souls for Christ, they measure their impact based on the number of awards they win.
