Following his team’s victory over the hosts Qatar on Friday, Senegal’s Terangha Lions head coach Aliou Cisse has been honoured by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The African champions won their first match of the competition by defeating Qatar 3-1.
By winning two FIFA World Cup games, Cisse became the first African manager to do so.
The CAF paid tribute to the former Senegal captain on social media.
Aliou Cisse is the first African manager in history to have won two FIFA World Cup games.
The victory increased the West Africans’ likelihood of making it to the Round of 16.
To ensure a spot in the next round, Senegal must now defeat Ecuador in their final group match.
