According to a new poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, if elections were held in July 2022, Ghana’s former President, John Dramani Mahama, would defeat all two of his likely rivals, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the poll, if voters were to choose between Mr Mahama and Dr Bawumia today, Mahama would receive 58% of the vote, while the Vice President would receive 31%.
According to the poll, an estimated 11% will prefer other candidates in that election.
According to the research, if the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama were pitted against the current Trade and Industry Minister, Mr Kyerematen, Mr Mahama would receive 61 percent of the votes, while Mr Kyerematen would receive 30 percent.
The poll also revealed that an estimated 9 percent of voters will vote for other candidates in such a contest.
A sample space of 5,490 was used for the poll, with a confidence interval of 99 percent. The margin of error was 1.737 percent plus or minus.
In addition, 75 constituencies were chosen at random using a simulation model, with a total voter population of 4,877,028 in the constituencies chosen.
In the 2020 general election, the NPP won 41 of the 75 randomly selected constituencies, while the NDC won 34.
Furthermore, the Voters’ Register of the 2020 Electoral Commission was used as a sampling frame for allocating sample size to each constituency.
The sample was allocated based on the total number of registered voters in the constituencies in relation to the 75 constituencies chosen.
The location for the interview was also chosen at random from one of the constituency’s three electoral areas for each constituency.
Interviews were conducted between July 1st and July 15th, 2022.
Except where there were network issues, data was collected on the field using a survey app and results were transmitted to the cloud in real-time.
