Rejection of COVID-19 vaccine for over fears of voting for NPP – Krobo Residents
Upper Manya Krobo District Health Directorate has expressed low turnout for the COVID-19 vaccine due to mistaken belief among the people.
According to Esther Dua Oyinka, the District Health Director brought out some grievances in aspect concerning the district high hesitant level.
The Director said there has been some misinformation in concluding that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government wants to use the vaccine to cause a change of mind regarding the election in 2024.
Her lamentation centred around ” Some of the rumours are that if you are a man and you take the vaccine you will become impotent which is a falsehood.
Others are saying if you are a lady, you will cease menstruation and you cannot give birth any longer, others say if you take it you are going to die that it will push you to your early grave because you will experience some funny signs and symptoms in your body.
Even some are saying it is the government that has put in certain things to make up for the vaccine to vaccinate them so that it will change their minds from voting for any other party except the sitting party”
The majority of the populace are into farming with a high rate of illiteracy. It also stands to be one of the strongholds of the opposition National Democratic Party (NDC).
Awareness and intensive sensitization are ongoing to compel and discourage the misbelief of residents to a minimal level.
