On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Nima experienced a shoot-out during a clash between two gangs known as Kumordzi and Bombon.
The Police showed footage of how groups of men were holding machetes while some fired gunshots along the streets of Nima. Interventions were made by the Police and later contained the violence.
Currently, the Police have arrested 7 persons in connection to the shootout. Out of the 7 persons, five are in police custody, and the remaining two have been hospitalized, all under police watch.
Director-General of Police Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori, in addressing the media at the police headquarters indicated that “Nima witnessed mass violence around 3:30 pm yesterday [Tuesday], and the Police quickly intervened. The violence spread across some sections of Nima and we managed to stabilize the situation.”
“7 persons have been arrested. 5 are presently here with us, and the other two are on admission at the Police hospital.”
The leaders of the two groups Kumordzi and Bombon are being searched by the police.
