The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) had the honour of hosting GL Rapha, a South Korean pharmaceutical company for a 5 day long series of business meetings with the Authority and other relevant agencies starting on 27th February, 2023.
The Authority as part of its mandate to drive into Ghana foreign direct investment, collaborated with Ambassador Mrs. Charis Obetsebi-Lamptey Zwennes, Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, to facilitate the fact-finding visit. As part of the GFZA handholding services, the Authority will further provide the needed assistance and advisory services to aid GL Rapha, which intends to set up a pharmaceutical company in Ghana.
On Monday, 27th February, 2023, the Authority welcomed the delegation at its head office to kickstart the series of meetings. According to the delegation, GL Rapha is seeking to assess the available investment opportunities and required procedures necessary for it to set up in Ghana. It was therefore on the visit to assess the viability of the project and support systems available at the GFZA. The Chief Executive Officer, Amb Mike Oquaye Jnr in welcoming the delegation underscored the fruitful cooperation Ghana has with South Korea and acknowledged the efficiency and thoroughness South Korea attaches to its quality of production.
He reassured the delegation of Ghana’s locational advantage, pitching Ghana as the best destination for access to the US and European markets, as well as access to the estimated 300 million ECOWAS and about 1.3 million AfCFTA markets. He also guaranteed the readiness of the GFZA to continue to handhold the company until it sets up, and how the Authority would proceed to support its growth in the form of aftercare services.
The GFZA proceeded to facilitate the company’s next engagement with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
GL Rapha is scheduled to engage other relevant agencies during the period of the visit at the GFZA head office.
