A Nigerian by the name of Aliu who appears to be 22 years of age was caught in an act of theft (stealing a phone) in Accra, Ghana
When he got surrounded by a mob, many thought he would be beaten, rather, the mob that a kindhearted gentleman led decided to give him a task to perform, which was to clean a gutter in the neighbourhood.
Aliu, as seen in the video, was given wellington boots for his feet and a shovel with which he removed packs of sand from the dirty gutter under strict supervision.
In the quest for cleaning, he was asked what he needed and he answered, “malt and water”, which was made available for him.
After that, Aliu was made to take his bath, given a new set of clothes to wear and was later sent to a restaurant in the neighbourhood to eat till he was satisfied.
He was served 4 balls of banks with fish, chicken, water and a drink.
Netizens have seen this as the best humane gesture shown towards a thief. He would have been beaten to a pulp if it were to be another community.
