Since Covid 19 hit the world, there have been records of one misfortune or the other. The common of them all is the loss of jobs. As a result, it’s quite hard for the average earner to comfortably enjoy their three-square meal without first checking their budget.

Nonetheless, life seems to others like a bed of roses. Social media is flooded with the latest in all trends of cars, outfits, footwear, and accessories as if making money comes on a silver platter. They don’t seem to feel the heat at all.
This flaunting of affluence is what has caught the attention of Lauretta Onochie, the Aide to President Buhari. Her comments are addressed to Nigerian citizens in a caution against painting a picture that’s far from the truth.
Her post was seen in the early hours of the day on her social media handle. She alerted the public of a lifestyle audit and added that “those who flaunt lifestyle they cannot afford can now be investigated by any of the graft agencies”. This clearly explains that henceforth, any Nigerian citizen who takes to social media to display their wealth will be invited over to explain their source.
I believe this will curb the unnecessary pressure being mounted on the Youth and the less privileged.
