The nominees for the Ghana National Gospel Awards have been announced, but in an unusual turn of events, artiste Joe Mettle’s name is not among them.
The gospel musician, a key stakeholder who has won numerous awards from the scheme, has had his name removed from all 27 categories.
This has enraged the Christian community, with many demanding answers from the organizers and the artist himself.
To put his fans’ minds at ease, Joe Mettle responded, stating that it was his decision to be exempt.
Though he did not explain why netizens accepted his request in good faith.
The Ye Obua Mi composer’s fans believe he would have made history again if he had released back-to-back hit songs and his Kadosh album in the year of review.
Perez Musik, MOG Music, Scott Evans, Akesse Brempong, Kofi Owusu Peprah, KobbySalm, and Luigi MaClean will now compete for the prestigious Gospel Artiste of the Year award.
In August, the fifth edition of the Ghana National Gospel Music Awards will take place.
