On Friday, a group of ladies from the Bawku township mounted a protest, accusing military soldiers of abusing the locals.
Hundreds of women were seen yelling, “We want the military out; we don’t need them,” in a video.
The demonstration began on Thursday night when reports surfaced of incidences in which troops reportedly broke into the Bawku community and opened fire randomly, killing people.
“We are unable to confirm the exact number of injured individuals. One local told Citi News in an interview that “some of the people have dispersed, and some of them are still there protesting and the injured have been taken to the Vineyard Hospital after the military fired.”
Unidentified gunman reportedly opened fire on a crowd of civilians, at the community centre on Wednesday, resulting in the death of two persons, while four others were injured.
