A lot of concerns have been raised after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo claimed to have been the master man behind the Pokuase interchange, Obetsebi interchange and the Tamale interchange.
It has been argued, of which the argument is still ongoing, that the only project Akufo-Addo can take credit for is the Tamale flyover, adding that, that is the only project his administration can and should boast of.
Another thing that has raised concern is the issue of constructing three interchanges at $289M and President Mahama used $290M for one interchange.
Social media communicator of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yayra Koku, has the facts needed to settle these two pressing issues.
He started:
“The Pokuase and Obetsebi interchanges are Mahama projects and not Akufo-Addo’s projects. President Mahama, the Nation Builder who secured the loans for the said projects and executed the Agreements for the same. The only project among the three (3) that Akufo-Addo can claim credit for is the Tamale flyover that has stalled for months. He can’t claim credit for Pokuase and Obestebi Lamptey interchange projects.

The Kwame Nkrumah Interchange project cost is 74.8 million euros (equivalent to USD 90 million) and not USD 260 million as claimed by Akufo-Addo. This fact is contained in the Parliamentary Hansard of 16th August 2012. Akufo-Addo lied.
The combined cost of the Kwame Nkrumah interchange and Ring Road Flyover is USD 260 million. Note that the two projects are separate and distinct and were approved by Parliament and executed on different days.
Finally, the scope of work of the interchanges that dishonest Akufo-Addo alluded to, three (3) of which are Mahama projects (Circle, Pokuase and Obestebi) are different and cannot be compared. It is illiterate and pedestrian for one to compare the cost of significantly different projects in scope.
President Akufo-Addo should stop claiming credit for Mahama legacy projects he knows next to nothing about and focus on completing the Tamale flyover that he started.”
