The leadership of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has received assurances from Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that he will reduce government spending while raising worker compensation.
In order to gather suggestions for his platform, Bawumia made this promise on May 29, 2024, during a meeting with TUC leaders in Accra.
“I am committed to minimizing government spending to free up funds for worker salary increases,” Bawumia declared.
In addition to addressing concerns about excessive utility costs, Bawumia emphasized his efforts to assist industry and promised the importation of solar panels to meet the nation’s energy needs.
“Ghana should not just import solar panels—the technology is here for us to manufacture solar panels in Ghana—when we talk about two thousand megawatts, we are talking about a whole lot of solar panels,” he stated.
